Second Annual Statewide EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Conference

Saturday, March 10, at Bastyr University, Kenmore, WA

The second annual statewide EFT conference features presenters from across Washington State speaking on such subjects as “Pain as a Metaphor; How Emotional Distress Emerges as Physical Conditions;” “Kick Butts, Take Names: A Multi-Faceted Response to the Challenge of Tobacco Cessation;” and using EFT to make changes in one’s life that result in greater abundance and freedom from limitations of all kinds.

The event is chaired by Alina Frank, director of Tap Your Power; certified EFT Universe Trainer; and mentor to hundreds of healing arts professionals in the uses of EFT.  It is organized to appeal to anyone interested in furthering their understanding of EFT and Energy Psychology techniques.
Presenters include these 5 Washington state practitioners: Daimon Sweeney, Craig Weiner DC, Sarajane Thomas, Nancy Southern MSW, and Joanna Cummings.

EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques is a powerful self-help method based on research showing that emotional trauma contributes greatly to disease. EFT therapy involves the stimulation of traditional Chinese acupuncture points to create a healing response. However, instead of using needles, it uses a technique of gentle tapping on these points. Clinical trials have shown that EFT is able to rapidly reduce the emotional impact of memories and incidents that trigger emotional distress. Once the distress is reduced or removed, the body can often rebalance itself, and accelerate healing.

All net proceeds will benefit EFT research conducted by the Soul Medicine Institute (SMI). SMI is a nonprofit dedicated to research, therapies and education in the fields of Energy Medicine and Energy Psychology. SMI studies methods such as meditation, stress reduction, EFT, and the Relaxation Response for their remarkable new potential for healing both emotional trauma and physical symptoms.

The EFT conference takes place Saturday, March 10, 10 am – 5:30 pm, at Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA.  Cost is $87. Both practitioners and the public are invited. To register and for further information, visit  http://www.washingtonefttappersgathering.com and www.happytapping.net

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.

“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.” –Dalai Lama

EFT or Meridian Tapping is a tool of compassion that results in feeling happy to be you. Yet, some of you may still not be getting the results you want in some areas of your life. The secret to any energy shifting tool is in using it “with passion”. That’s what the literal meaning of com-passion is all about.

So what is passion and how do you combine it with tapping? Passion is a particular quality of energy that is found in the core of you, not in your head. It has a unique vibrational signature that is: ONLY ACCESSED WHEN YOU TUNE INTO THE TRUTH OF HOW YOU ARE FEELING inside.

Where most of you get off track using tapping is focusing on “I don’t know what to say” rather than getting really clear about how you are actually feeling. I understand why you would do that. IT’S UNCOMFORTABLE! IT’S INTENSE! YOU WOULD RATHER AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS. And that’s often where the process bogs down.
Now the good news is, you don’t have to go to the highest extreme before you can begin to decrease the discomfort. It’s more important to get an accurate feeling state and begin the tapping there. You can fine tune the frequency by focusing clearly on the nature of your feeling. Then the tapping will be much more productive. It’s easier to do this than you might think.
The Eskimos’ have over 100 names for snow. Your feeling/emotions are just as diverse. Find the emotion that most closely matches how you’re really feeling and the results will come about sooner and more efficiently. For example for the generic emotion of anger, there are dozens of variations, each with a unique vibration or frequency. Learn to recognize the one that is vibrating within you related to the problem and then tap on it. Adjust as you go along. There may be more than one for each situation.
I have compiled short lists of related feeling states for 8 of the most commonly identified emotions that I teach my clients. Here’s a sample for one of them.
ANGER: Obstinate, Critical, Enraged, Impatient, Naughty, Attacking, Boiling, Defiant, Irritable, Mad, Offended, Resentful, Resistant
The next time you do a tapping round for something to do with anger, ‘try on’ some of these alternative emotions. You’ll know immediately if it’s a match for how you are truly feeling. Once it’s acknowledged and released through tapping, then you return to your natural state of peace or happiness. Just like the Dali Lama said you would.
A great resource for exploring the many names of emotion that I highly recommend is: “Feelings Buried Alive…Never Die” by Karol Truman.

Happy Tapping!

Attitude of Gratitude

© Nancy Southern http://www.happytapping.net

It’s already November and time for Thanksgiving. Are you able to access an Attitude of Gratitude?

In the 80’s, I was living in Kansas City. I was part of a team who put on workshops and programming designed to inspire, uplift and transform consciousness.

The theme song for the Attitude of Gratitude workshops was Patti LaBelle’s “New Attitude”. How many of you remember it?
Go to: http://www.last.fm/music and then search New Attitude by Patti LaBelle.

Any time I hear that song, I’m up dancing before I can stop myself and I always feel light and happy! The words are great, too.
Go On, do it now. It’s only a couple of minutes and you’ll feel better, I promise. If that doesn’t get you feeling thankful then
definitely get to tapping. The setup statement could go something like this:

“Even though I can’t seem to feel grateful even with the help of  “New Attitude”, I’d like to believe it’s possible to feel grateful about something!” As soon as a grateful thought comes to mind, tap it in. Repeat this as often as needed to feel
the shift in energy inside.

Did you know that the vibration of love and gratitude are the most powerful emotions you can express? Gratitude works like
a giant magnet, drawing to you more and more experiences that provide a response of gratitude. One of my favorite traditions
at the Thanksgiving table is to go around and have each person describe something they are grateful for.

Can you feel your energy changing just tuning into all there is to be grateful for?

Here’s a suggestion: Tap into an “Attitude of Gratitude” each day for the rest of the month (or year), and see if you notice a
difference. Be creative about it, use music, meditation, pictures of friends and family, or do tapping sequences when you get stuck or feel resistance. Whether you focus on little bitty things or great big things, the vibration of gratitude is the same. Let me know what happens. It just might be something wildly wonderful.

Did you know that 20% of the population are considered Highly Sensitive?

What that means is these folks often experience stress or even pain in certain situations that the other 80% don’t. I happen to be Highly Sensitive and since childhood have been bothered by loud noises, strong smells and being in rooms with more than a handful of people. Since discovering “tapping” my sensitivity is less a problem and more the asset I know it can be. If you’re highly sensitive too, it’s worth checking out. Learning about and using EFT has expanded my life choices considerably.
