Listen To Your Heart

Happy  Tapping News

Hello Everyone,
Welcome to the first edition of my newsletter. I hope you find it meaningful. I will send each edition as text and attachment so hopefully everyone will be able to read it easily.

It’s very common to hear ourselves say “Listen to your heart” or “Follow your heart”. Yet, it is often difficult to know what the “heart” is trying to tell us. The following excerpt from THE FOUR FOLD WAY brings helpful insight into the messages of the heart. I then offer a simple way to combine this with EFT.

Many native cultures believe that the heart is the bridge between Father Sky and Mother Earth. For these traditions the four-chambered heart, the source for sustaining emotional and spiritual health, is described as being full, open, clear and strong. These traditions feel that it is important to check the condition of the four-chambered heart daily, asking: “Am I full-hearted, open-hearted, clear hearted, and strong hearted?”

Where we are not full-hearted, we approach people and situations half-heartedly. The experience of feeling like we should do something when we don’t want to is the breeding ground for half-heartedness. Feeling half-hearted is an announcement of wrong placement, and it is the time to remove ourselves from these situations.

Where we are not open-hearted, we become closed-hearted. Being defensive, encountering our own resistance and protecting ourselves from the
possibility of hurt are signals of closed-heartedness. The answer is to soften and reopen the heart.

Where we are not clear-hearted we are confused and carrying a doubting heart. This is where we need to wait. States of ambivalence and indifference are precursors to confusion and doubt. When we experience any of these states, we are reminded to wait for clarity rather than to take action.

When we are not strong-hearted is where we lack the courage to be authentic or to say what is true for us. Strong-heartedness is where we have the courage to be all of who we are in our life. The word “courage” is derived from the French word for heart, Coeur, and etymologically it means “the ability to stand by one’s heart or to stand by one’s core.” Whenever we exhibit courage, we demonstrate the healing power of paying attention to what has heart and meaning for us.

Though I have benefited from being aware of the message of the four-chambered heart teachings for many years, since EFT has come into my life I am able to access the soundings of my heart even more effectively. To apply EFT to these four elements, it can be easily done by saying in the setup phrases:

“Even though I’m feeling half-hearted, I totally and completely accept myself.”
“Even though I feel closed-hearted, I totally and completely accept myself.”
“Even though I have a doubting heart, I totally and completely accept myself.
“Even though I feel weak-hearted, I totally and completely accept myself.”

Use the statement that most closely applies to the current problem or situation you are wanting to resolve. Then simply apply the tapping sequence in the usual way. The “Choices Method” can also be incorporated. Do a follow-up sequence choosing the appropriate heart aspect of either full, open, clear or strong.

I recently had a challenge/opportunity to apply EFT in this way and the results were pleasantly surprising. (I’ll share more about this in a later article.) If you decide to work with this format, I would greatly appreciate hearing about your experiences with it. Also let me know if it is acceptable to share your experience in future newsletters (anonymously if preferred).

I hope you find this first newsletter article helpful. Your feedback is welcome.
